This is a world map that shows where the coniferous forests are located. They are pretty much across North America, Europe, and Asia, usually extending from 50˚ to 60˚N. The coniferous forest is the largest terrestrial biome (as I mentioned on the Home Page), covering about 17% of Earths's land area. Canada, Russia, and Scandinavia are almost entirely covered by this biome. The biome is identified by its climate, which occurs almost exclusively in the high latitudes of the northern hemisphere. Due to its location, the coniferous forest has all four seasons, but it is still usually cold in the middle of summer.
